To the Editor: Re "House Approves Bill Criminalizing Violence to Fetus" (front page, April 27): Cooler heads in the abortion debate balance the undeniable value of a potential human life against the importance of allowing women to be the primary arbiters over their own bodies.

Criminalizing a social problem will not make it go away.

Therefore, those without access to a private space are often criminalized.
