The deep anterior cervical lymph nodes are found near the middle cricothyroid ligament and the trachea.

The conus elasticus (or elastic cone) is the lateral portion of the cricothyroid ligament.

It arises in front from the lower half of the angle of the thyroid cartilage, and from the middle cricothyroid ligament.

The cricothyroid ligament is the larger part of the laryngeal membrane, continuing inferiorly as a median or anterior part and twin lateral ligaments.

The anterior part of the cricothyroid ligament, or middle cricothyroid ligament, is thick and strong, narrow above and broad below.

The cricoid cartilage sits just inferior to the thyroid cartilage in the neck, and is joined to it medially by the median cricothyroid ligament and postero-laterally by the cricothyroid joints.

The median cricothyroid ligament is a flat band of white tissue joining the cricoid and thyroid cartilages, while the lateral cricothyroid ligament is also known as the cricothyroid membrane (also called conus elasticus).
