"They seem to be keen on our coming," said the conductor, who has spent half his life in the West.

"He has a sense of what the occasion is," said the conductor.

"And the guy'd leave another $25 at the bar," said the conductor.

Someone had fallen ill at the 51st Street station, or so the conductor said.

"People act like this is the last train of the day," the conductor said.

"Now look," the conductor said, putting his lips together for a moment.

But the conductor 575 winced and said they'd be going.

"I asked what music they don't hear very much," said the conductor.

The conductor would smile, give us a pat on the head, and say something about 'nice looking kids'.

"You could get off the train at the next stop," the conductor said.
