Clearance fit: It is gap between two mating parts.

In clearance fit there is always a positive clearance between the hole and shaft.

Depending upon the actual limits of the hole or shaft sizes,fits may be classified as clearance fit,transition fit and interference fit.

There are three general categories of fits: 1) Clearance fits for when it may be desirable for the shaft to rotate or slide freely within the hole, this is usually referred to as a "sliding fit."

This would provide a clearance fit of somewhere between 0.04 mm (largest shaft paired with the smallest hole, called the "maximum material condition") and 0.112 mm (smallest shaft paired with the largest hole).
