charset

The charset is the name of the particular character set which should be used.

Typically it would be the same charset as the message body.

A Charset parameter may be used to indicate the character set of the text.

Variants can indicate a charset as a parameter of the media type.

Although the content charset is reported to the client, the browser is unlikely to use this information.

Default charset for plain text is simply set with meta:

Assumed document character set This option changes the handling of documents which do not explicitly specify a charset.
