The most recently formed have narrow disjunct stands of emergent vegetation dominated by Great Reedmace Typha latifolia and occasionally by Lesser Pond-sedge Carex acutiformis, whilst the oldest have extensive stands of Common Reed Phragmites australis.

It hybridises with a number of other Carex species, including the closely related Carex acutiformis - the lesser pond sedge.

Signoficant plants include the Nationally Scarce cowbane Cicuta virosa and the locally uncommon greater tussock sedge Carex paniculata and lesser pond sedge Carex acutiformis.

In the eastern part of the mire Purple Moor-grass and Blunt-flowered Rush are again abundant, but the abundant sedge species here are Lesser (Carex acutiformis) and Greater Pond-sedges (C. riparia).

The swamp area of the site has Lesser Pond-sedge Carex acutiformis as the dominant plant species, with other species such as Great Reedmace Typha latifolia and Great Willowherb Epilobium hirsutum found in the area.
