Acinic cell carcinoma of the lung is a very rare malignant neoplasm originating from bronchial glands.

Mucoepidermoid carcinomas of the salivary and bronchial glands are characterized by a recurrent t(11;19)(q21;p13) chromosomal translocation resulting in a MECT1-MAML2 fusion gene.

Adenocarcinomas are most often highly heterogeneous peripheral tumors, and are thought to arise from malignant transformation of primitive cells that can exhibit differentiation characteristics of Clara Cells, Type II pneumocytes, bronchiolar surface cells, bronchial gland cells, or goblet cells.
