The three bracted onion (Allium tribracteatum) is a native perennial bulb endemic to California.

Each spikelet is light greenish brown to reddish brown and is made up of up to 30 bracted flowers.

Foliage grows in a star-shaped basal rosette which culminates in an orange and red bracted inflorescence.

Streptanthus bracteatus is a species of flowering plant in the mustard family known by the common names bracted jewelflower and bracted twistflower.

The inflorescence is a rounded bundle one to three centimeters wide, containing up to 120 spikelets, each long and partially or entirely covered in up to 30 bracted flowers.

Individuals of this species have a solid bulb, fibrous-coated, long narrow leaves, and a bracted cluster of many flowers (like exploding fireworks) at the top of tall flower stalk.

Common shrubs and herbs are: saskatoon, red-osier dogwood, raspberry, wild rose, currants and bracted honeysuckle, wild sarsaparilla, hairy lungwort, asters, and peavine.

The California Native Plant Society lists the three bracted onion as " rare, threatened, or endangered ... " and there are only 10 counties with either specimens obtained or a verified observation made.
