Three amphibians are found in the area: Arboreal salamander, California newt and western toad.

The arboreal salamander, Aneides lugubris, is a species of climbing salamander.

The black salamander is mostly terrestrial but has a prehensile tail so may sometimes climb as does the related arboreal salamander Aneides lugubris.

Wet adhesion is common in tree frogs and arboreal salamanders, and functions either by suction or by capilary adhesion.

The south fork of Strawberry Creek has some riparian coast redwood groves on the university campus and is also suitable habitat for the California slender salamander and arboreal salamander.
