apical area

The apical area is olive brown, divided by an oblique line.

There are three characteristic elongate spots in the apical area.

The hindwings are greyish brown with a yellow apical area.

The hHindwing is whitish grey mixed with brown in the apical area.

Two to three hyaline, rounded spots are found in the sub apical area.

There are one or two small hyaline round spots found in the sub apical area.

The apical area is whitish with some scattered fuscous scales.

The apical area distal to these triangles is the same colour as the basal half.

The hindwings are brownish with an orange apical area.

The ground color of the hindwings is white at the base and pale brownish beyond, becoming dark brown in the apical area.

This dark band merges with the paler apical area distally.

The apical area has two creamy spots.

The marginal and apical areas are lighter.

The ground color of the hindwings is white, but the distal margin and apical area are narrowly brown.

Ratio of length of apical area to total wing length less than 0.2.

The apical area is paler than the basal area.

Finally, a semitransparent, blotchy mine is seen on the discoloured apical area of the leaf.

The female forewing is white with a black apical area and a black streak across the discal cell.

The forewings are largely deep smoky, with a distinct coppery tinge, especially in the apical area.

The ground color of the hindwings is whitish, slightly tinged with brownish toward the apical area.

Hind wing white, the apical area to the discocellulars and vein 3 tinged with fuscous brown.

The apical area is ochreous.

Underside: forewing similar to the upperside except that the ground-colour on the apical area is dull brown not black.

Underside: fore wing white, markings similar, more clearly defined, the white spots within the black apical area larger.

It is desirable to leave sufficient root filling material in the apical area to maintain an apical seal.
