It is made by reacting chlorine with antimony, antimony trioxide, or antimony trisulfide.

Fuels: silicon, boron, manganese, tungsten, antimony, antimony trisulfide, zirconium, zirconium-nickel alloy, zinc, magnesium, etc.

It can be prepared by dissolving antimony, antimony trioxide, antimony trisulfide or antimony oxychloride in hot, concentrated sulfuric acid.

Antimony trichloride is prepared by reaction of chlorine with antimony, antimony tribromide, antimony trioxide, or antimony trisulfide.
