Heteroousianism (including Anomoeanism) which held that God the father and the son were different in substance and/or attributes.

The hardline form of heteroousianism, in which the substance of the Father and Son are not only said to be different, but also dissimilar, is usually called Anomoeanism.

Acacius proposed a new creed, with notes stating that the Son was like the Father, compromising between the controversial language of Nicaea and Antioch, and condemning Anomoeanism.

Anomoeanism questioned the Trinitarian account of the relationship between God the Father and Christ and was considered a heretic by the Church, which adopted the term "homoousion", or "consubstantial", to describe the relation between Father and Son in the Nicene Creed.
