The individual amphibrachic foot often appears as a variant within, for instance, anapaestic meter.

They are comprised of five lines in anapestic or amphibrachic meter with a strict rhyme scheme (aabba).

In stanza two, Einarsson points out instances where the meter of the poem contains examples of amphibrachic, pyrrhicretic, and spondaic feet.

Some books by Geisel that are written mainly in anapestic tetrameter also contain many lines written in amphibrachic tetrameter, such as these from If I Ran the Circus:

Meter and lineation are consistently amphibrachic (da DA da) rather than dactylic (DA da da), and the shortened fourth and eighth lines rhyme.

For example, in trisyllabic measures (anapestic, amphibrachic, dactylic) it is often quite arbitrary where one divides the feet, and the salient fact seems to be the number of non-ictic syllables -in this case two- between each ictus, rather than whether the repeated pattern is imagined as xx/, x/x, or /xx.
