Agalmatolite consists predominantly of massive, felted, very fine-grained muscovite of the form called pinite together with variable amounts of relict quartz.

So do several eighth-century sculptures of zodiac figures in the show's second part, including a wonderful pair of sword-wielding deities with human bodies and animal heads (a horse's and a boar's) crisply carved in high relief from cutting-board-size slabs of agalmatolite.

The earliest of these dentures were entirely wooden, but later versions used natural human teeth or sculpted pagodite, ivory, or animal horn for the teeth.
