In some cases, the accessory breast may not be visible at the surface.

These are usually in the lower armpit and are known as accessory breasts.

Accessory breasts and extra nipples aren't usually a problem and don't need to be removed.

They have been variously interpreted as multiple accessory breasts, as eggs, grapes, acorns, or even bull testes.

In other cases, accessory breasts have been known to lactate, as illustrated in a woodcut showing a child nursing at ectopic breast tissue on the lateral thigh.
