UKF waves

VHF waves are restricted to the local radio horizon less than 100 miles.

Unlike high frequencies (HF), the ionosphere does not usually reflect VHF waves (called skywave propagation).

E Layer: approximately 200km bends LF, MF & HF waves to a lesser degree, it is occasionally very dense and then can bend VHF waves.

It is feared that the VHF waves of television would act as a homing signal for guiding enemy bombers to central London: in any case, the engineers of the television service would be needed for the war effort, particularly for development of radar.
