Tana River mangabey

Two endangered primates, the Tana River Mangabey and the Tana River Red Colobus, that are found there along with five more primate species.

In 1974 she teamed up with Colin Groves in the Tana River floodplain where they studied the endangered Tana River Red Colobus and the Tana River Mangabey.

They are covered with tropical rainforest, mountain forest, miombo woodland, grassland, steppe and are home to many large mammals, including the Udzungwa Red Colobus and Tana River Mangabey, and unusual animals such as the Grey-faced Sengi.

The Tana River mangabey (Cercocebus galeritus) is a highly endangered species of primate in the Cercopithecidae family.

The riverine forests are used by all eight monkey species which occur in the park, and four of these are never or rarely seen in forests of terra firma (Cercopithecus neglectus, Miopithecus talapoin, Colobus guereza, Cercocebus galeritus).
