A Satanic mass?

It combines Marlow's text with original verse, songs and dance (and a real Satanic mass).

He released three albums, The Satanic Mass, Satan Takes a Holiday, and Strange Music.

At this grim, joyless ceremony, which suggests a satanic mass, black-cloaked male revelers who resemble torturers more than lovers copulate with masked female models.

In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII singled out cannabis healers and other herbalists, proclaiming hemp an unholy sacrament of the second and third types of satanic mass.

In his despair he got involved with a number of occult societies, contacted otherworldly composers and rumour even has it that he was obliged to play his once so-beloved organ at satanic masses.

Coven's Satanic Mass, part of their stage show beginning in 1967, was expanded and included on their 1969 record album "Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls", together with the full published text.

On June 6, 2006 the Church of Satan held the first public ritual Satanic Mass in 40 years at the Steve Allen Theater in the Center for Inquiry in Los Angeles.

According to rock journalist Lester Bangs, "In England lie unskilled laborers like Black Sabbath, which was hyped as a rockin' ritual celebration of the Satanic mass, something like England's answer to Coven."

Again, in the blank and solid stillness, he was met by a sound: the dim, reverberant chanting of voices, as in some Satanic mass or liturgy with dirge-like cadences that turned to intolerably soaring paeans of evil triumph.

The second was a record album of readings in Satanic ritual and philosophy by the Church of Satan, called "The Satanic Mass", which contained material later to appear in their Satanic Bible (published in 1969).

The child Satanic Baptism garnered world-wide publicity and was first recorded and released, with other rituals, in the vinyl LP The Satanic Mass, originally released on LaVey's own label, Murgenstrumm, 1968.

After that, Dvorak retreated into a farmhouse in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel and began celebrating "Satanic masses with plenty of naked flesh and blood" ("Satanische Messen mit viel nacktem Fleisch und Blut" )

The Satanic Mass: Recorded Live at the Church of Satan is the first released audio recording of a Satanic ritual, recorded in 1968 at Church of Satan headquarters, known as The Black House.

In Rolling Stone, the rock journalist Lester Bangs gave Black Sabbath’s debut two and a half stars out of five, panning the band as “unskilled labourers... hyped as a rockin’ ritual celebration of the Satanic Mass or some such claptrap.

As the chains of the swinging light fixture torqued, the links twisted against one another with enough friction to cause an eerie grining, as if lizard-eyed altar boys in blood-soaked cassocks and surplices were ringing the unmelodious bells of a satanic mass.

“Dungeons & Dragons was unique in that it was the only game associated with its subculture for at least a decade, and it got popular at the same time as the Satanic Mass Hysteria in the USA,” said screenwriter and gamer John Rogers.

The album concluded with a 13-minute track of chanting and Satanic prayers called "Satanic Mass" (written by their producer, Bill Traut, of Dunwich Productions, and described as "the first Black Mass to be recorded, either in written words or in audio").

This Satanic Mass was also the first time Latin phrases such as "Ave Satanas" (Hail, Satan) were used in occult rock music, and later Satanic and Black Metal bands continued this innovation (see List of songs with Latin lyrics for some examples).
