They decided to call the team Amazona Guildingii after the rare and graceful Vincentian Parrot, and selected the national colours of green, yellow and blue for their jerseys and shorts.

The fruit, flowers and seeds of Aiphanes minima are consumed by the vulnerable Saint Vincent Amazon (Amazona guildingii) and is also considered a potentially important food species for the critically endangered Puerto Rican Amazon (Amazona vittata).

The Saint Vincent Amazon (Amazona guildingii) also known as Saint Vincent Parrot, is a large, approximately 40 cm long, multi-colored amazon parrot with a yellowish white, blue and green head, greenish-bronze upperparts plumage, and violet blue-green wings.
