Rogun Dam is an embankment dam in the preliminary stages of construction on the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan.

The Rogun Dam began construction in Soviet times but remains uncompleted; now Tajikistan has recommenced the project with financial support from the Russian Aluminum Company.

For this reason, Uzbekistan is highly critical of the Rogun Dam, claiming that it would "put it [Tajikistan] firmly in control of the river".

The Rogun Dam was originally planned to be built by Russia's Inter RAO UES, but following disagreements, Russia pulled out.
