Parable of the Wedding Feast

A chancel play of the parable of the Wedding Feast.

It is not to be confused with a different Parable of the Wedding Feast recorded in Luke's Gospel.

The use of the term "outer darkness" is in Jesus' Parable of the wedding feast (also known as the parable of the marriage of the king's son).

The theme of divine invitations to eat are found both in the New Testament (e.g. the Parable of the Wedding Feast) and in Graeco-Roman religion.

In the Parable of the Wedding Feast, it is the "the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame" who become God's honored guests, while others reject the invitation because of their earthly cares and possessions (Lk 14.7-14).
