In spite of protests of conservationists the May Beetle is battled against by means of insecticides.

Besides there is a larger population of the May beetle (Melolontha melolontha).

After completion in May 1931, Ganz nicknamed his new prototype Maikäfer (May Beetle).

He has written, produced, and directed May Beetle, Kissing Miss Jones and worked in the screenplay department, production management for the internationally acclaimed film Life!

Common names for this genus and many other related genera in the subfamily Melolonthinae are May beetles, June bugs, and June beetles.

He is best known for writing, producing & directing May Beetle,Kissing Miss Jones, and Love Lies and Seeta, a New York based independent feature film.

Ganz had been working on a small car design since the early 1920s and had so far built two prototypes, one for Ardie in 1930 and one for Adler in 1931, called the Maikäfer (May Beetle).
