Smaller than Levant Sparrowhawk, with pale cheeks, pale tail and brown on neck.

P. accipiteris infects the Levant sparrowhawk (Accipiter brevipes).

This species is similar in size to the Levant Sparrowhawk, but larger than the Shikra (the calls are however different); the male is only slightly larger than the Merlin.

It shares the mountains with other birds of prey such as Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Levant Sparrowhawk and Saker Falcon.
