The Archipelago of Las Aves Archipelago Las Aves is Los Roques lesser-known western neighbor.

The Las Aves Archipelago is a pristine archipelago in the Caribbean Sea, and is part of the Federal Dependencies of Venezuela.

Later, some Dutch historians argued that Isabella's advisors could have mixed up Aves with Las Aves Archipelago lying between Bonaire and Los Roques, just off the coast of Venezuela.

In 1677-1678 he commanded the Belliqueux in the Caribbean, where he was implicated in the foundering of the fleet of Jean II d'Estrées, in the disaster of the Las Aves Archipelago.

When war broke out between France and the Dutch Republic in 1678, he joined a fleet under the command of Comte d'Estrées for an abortive raid on the Dutch island of Curaçao; however, the entire fleet of 17 vessels was wrecked on the Las Aves Archipelago.
