Lands Tribunal

If owners are unhappy they can appeal through a lands tribunal.

Appeals from the Lands Tribunal were heard in the Court of Appeal.

The judgment of the Lands Tribunal on valuation matters shall be final but further appeal on any points of law can be made to the law courts.

The President of the Lands Tribunal had to be a solicitor or barrister, and the Members either solicitors, barristers, or persons experienced in the valuation of land.

In 1971, he was appointed a Chairman of the Medical Appeal Tribunals, and as President of the newly-established Lands Tribunal for Scotland.

If there is a relevant decision by a valuation tribunal, lands tribunal or higher court, you can make a proposal within six months of the decision, but not later than 30 September 2010.

The Lands Tribunal also had a general appellate jurisdiction in relation to Decisions of the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and Residential Property Tribunal.

Those two series are the most authoritative and are cited in court in preference to other report series, such as The Scots Law Times, which reports sheriff court and lands tribunal cases in addition to the higher courts.
