The name Japanese privet may refer to either of two species of privet native to Japan:

It is occasionally known as Japanese privet, but is not to be confused with Ligustrum japonicum which is predominantly called by that common name.

Toxicodendron succedaneum, the wax tree, Japanese wax tree or sơn in Vietnam, is a flowering plant species in the genus Toxicodendron found in Asia, although it has been planted elsewhere, most notably Australia and New Zealand.
