Indian pangolin

The Indian pangolin is almost entirely insectivorous.

The southern plains are home to mongooses, civets, hares, the Asiatic jackal, the Indian pangolin, the jungle cat and the desert cat.

Of these Indian Pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) and Sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) are near threatened and vulnerable respectively.

Rhesus monkeys, hanuman langurs, Indian pangolins, Indian porcupines, several species of flying squirrels, black-naped hares and endangered hispid hares are also present.

The main mammals in the reserve are: Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth Bear, dhol, Indian Pangolin, chital, sambar deer, Chevrotain, blackbuck, chinkara and chowsingha.

Smalls mammals include Porcupine Hystrix indica, Black-naped Hare Lepus nigricollis, Indian Pangolin Manis crassicaudata, squirrels, rats and mice.

These include the tiger, elephant, chital, sambar, nilgai, gharial, King Cobra, Indian muntjac, wild boar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, flying fox, Indian Pangolin, and nearly 600 species of birds.

The Indian pangolin (Manis crassicaudata), thick-tailed pangolin or scaly anteater is a pangolin found in the plains and hills of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and some parts of Pakistan.

Endangered species such as the Asiatic lion, three Indian crocodilians, Sangal lion-tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, Indian pangolin, mouse deer and countless birds, reptiles and fish have been breeding successfully at Nandankanan.

The ones that live in Africa are the cape pangolin, tree pangolin, and giant pangolin, and the three that live in Asia are the Indian pangolin, Malaysian pangolin, and Chinese pangolin.

Other mammals include four kinds of deer (barking, sambar, hog and chital), sloth and Himalayan black bears, Indian grey mongooses, otters, yellow-throated martens, ghoral (goat-antelopes), Indian pangolins, and langur and rhesus monkeys.
