Egyptian Mau

The exact origin of the Egyptian Mau is not recorded and therefore cannot be known for certain.

Example breeds would be the Devon Rex and the Egyptian Mau.

Unlike other spotted cats such as the Ocicat or Bengal cat, the Egyptian Mau is a natural breed.

Luna and Artemis call Sailor Mau their planet's only hero (her planet's name comes from a real species of cat called the Egyptian Mau).

The Egyptian Mau is often said to be descended from African wild cats, and its ancestor is depicted essentially unchanged in wall paintings of Ancient Egypt.

Later generations can include domestic genes, as they may be crossed to Savannah, Egyptian Mau, Serengeti, Caracal and Pixie Bob domestic breeds.

Both large spot and small spot patterns can be seen in the Australian Mist, Bengal, Egyptian Mau, Maine Coon, and Ocicat breeds.
