It called upon the Agency to strengthen the European environment information and observation network as a key infrastructure.

A major source of information is the European environment information and observation network (Eionet).

Latvia is participating in the European Environment Agency and the European environment information and observation network.

The Commission is nonetheless proposing to extend the scope of the Agency's activities with a view to establishing a European Environment Information Centre.

Lithuania is participating in the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

The Committee stressed the need to involve the regions in the activities of the European Environment Agency and of the European environment information and observation network.

European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET)

The European environment information and observation network (Eionet) is a partnership network of the EEA and its member and cooperating countries.

The European environment information and observation network (EIONET) comprises the main component elements of the national information networks and the information from the topic centres.

Proposal for a Council regulation amending Regulation (EEC) No 1210/90 on the establishment of the European Environment Agency and the European environment information and observation network.

The national area is for member states of the EU or EEA about the European Environment Information and Observation Network or EIONET.

Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation concerning the latter's participation in the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

The purpose of this proposal is the codification of a Council regulation on the establishment of the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information And Observation Network.

European Environment Agency (EEA) Council Regulation 1210/90, later amended by 933/1999, established the EEA and the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

I therefore fully support the codification of Council Regulation (EEC) No 1210/90 of 7 May 1990 on the establishment of the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

We voted in favour of the report concluding the agreement between the EC and Switzerland on the latter’s participation in the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

Finally, the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) provides a network which "facilitates co-operation and flow of data and information between EIONET partners and with the EEA."

The communication deals with the following areas: the possibility of proposing new tasks from the European Environment Agency; the need to create, develop and improve the infrastructure of the European environment information and observation network; the need to establish the nature of participation of third countries in the Agency.
