Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data

In 1981,Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (Convention 108) was introduced.

The harmonization of data protection law in the European Union was already drafted by the "Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data".

In relation to data protection, the 1981 Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data has been ratified by all the Member States of the Union.

According to the current position of Federal Service on Telecommunications the governmental body responsible for personal data protection adequate and sufficient protection exists only in those foreign states which signed and ratified Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.
