Finally, Coreper (Permanent Representatives Committee) will discuss this issue of Burma in more detail tomorrow.

He was appointed as President of Mercosur's permanent representatives committee, CRPM (Comisión de Representantes Permanentes del Mercosur).

Following yesterday's final deliberations in the Permanent Representatives Committee, the presidency is seeking the adoption of the decisions at the meeting of the ECOFIN Council on 10 May.

In addition to the meeting of AU heads of state, the AU summit in Malabo included the 19th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC).

The text has lost some of its teeth during the negotiations in Coreper.

To its credit the Council is at least represented by Coreper.

Discussions on such a compromise were successfully completed and Coreper has already endorsed it.

We all know about Coreper in the Council.

The next discussion in Coreper on the future strategy will take place next Friday.

The informal talks with Coreper have already clarified and crystallised a number of ideas for the future.

Coreper said that it was in favour of signing the text of the negotiations.

Specialist committees, it is argued, should be abolished, centralising power at Coreper level.

Eighty-five per cent of all legislation is finally completed in 300 working groups and in Coreper.

My next point is about Coreper.

This question is being discussed at Coreper today and, as I said, we are waiting to discuss it in the Council next week.

Let us rely on Coreper, which should once again become the traditional route by which the Council's meetings are prepared.

Now that an agreement has been reached in Coreper, there is a good chance that the Council will confirm the decision on access next week.

That is perfectly feasible, because Coreper is meeting on 14 April and there will be time to vote before then.

The Commission believes that, with the text agreed by Coreper on 16 February, we have reached the right moment for a positive decision.

We have asked Coreper, that is to say the ambassadors of the Member States, to agree on a baseline document.

The Group is responsible for deciding on the organisation of Coreper II proceedings.

It is astonishing: the Council will grant consent for the discharge of Coreper - one of its own institutions!

As regards the Hoppenstedt report, the positive outcome of Coreper this morning paves the way for an adoption at first reading.

The meeting, which usually takes place on the afternoon before Coreper, is chaired by the Presidency 'Antici'.

One existing institution - namely Coreper - will assume a function which has not been assigned to it at all at European level.

I have in mind the very disappointing opinion adopted by the Council, by Coreper, on the issue of other forms of legislation.

All of these Articles have, I am glad to say, been subject to intense discussions in Council and Coreper.

I am terribly unhappy that the United Kingdom Government is backing out and not supporting its industry through Coreper.

The numerous working groups submit their reports to the Council through Coreper or SCA.
