Barlow's wheel

Barlow's wheel is an early electric motor he invented, while Barlow's law is an (incorrect) law describing electrical conductance.

Barlow's wheel was an early demonstration of a homopolar motor, designed and built by English mathematician and physicist, Peter Barlow in 1822.

Though Barlow's wheel was an early refinement to this Faraday demonstration, these and similar homopolar motors were to remain unsuited to practical application until late in the century.
