Banti's disease

He gave his name to Banti's disease.

This work resulted in two papers, Dell'anemia splenica and Archivo di anatomica patologica (1882) describing the condition that would be known as Banti's disease.

Banti's syndrome (also known as Banti's disease) is a chronic congestive enlargement of the spleen resulting in premature destruction of the red blood cells by the spleen.

It may be caused by sickle cell anemia, sarcoidosis, malaria, bacterial endocarditis, leukemia, pernicious anemia, Gaucher's disease, leishmaniasis, Hodgkin's disease, Banti's disease, hereditary spherocytosis, cysts, glandular fever (mononucleosis or 'Mono' caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus), and tumours.
